Lights and Papers

Dear Friends,

Welcome to my blog Lights and Papers.

My passion towards paper crafts and candles had made me choose this name. I had started following my passion towards art and craft through learning different forms via workshops and also learning individually from different artists and online tutorials. This was happening over the leisure time from my full-time involvement as a working professional as I was working in the research industry after completion of my Ph.D.

I am not a writer by nature, however, thanks to blogger where I can share my ideas through small write ups and display my craft works to every ardent art lover.

I am highly passionate and kind of addicted to the art of Paper Quilling which I started learning since 2012. Paper Quilling is the art of rolling narrow colored strips of paper (different length, width and weight) into coils or scrolls and assembling them to create beautiful and attractive filigree. One of the major section of this blog will cover posts related to paper quilling projects based on different themes.

Sospeso is another paper craft which if done with proper techniques and tools can give a ceramic type finishing. "Sospeso transparente" is a volume decoupage technique, which is created and patented by Italian artist Monica Allegro.

This decorative art form allows us to make volume decorative elements from special papers like printed paper napkins or tissues, decoupage cards, sospeso veils in several easy steps as follows:

(1) Preparation of the sheets or veils
(2) Cutting patterns and sorting
(3) Heat embossing and shaping
(4) Assembly and finishing

This is the second form of paper craft with which I am going to explore in many of my upcoming projects.

Next comes the light part. My love towards buying and collecting different types of candles have finally led me to learn this beautiful art. I will be more than happy to learn advanced techniques of candle making and my posts related to candle making as a beginner will currently focus on my first set of trials at home and also ideas to design them differently to give some unique finishing.

I wish you all a nice stay here and please contact me at crakhi1980@gmail.com for specific queries. Your feedback is most welcome.
